Music in the Shape of a River
Under the direction and presentation of Martim Sousa Tavares, this is a unique and unmissable concert in which the orchestra takes on the very form of a river through the national premiere of two works by a pair of major composers of our time.
From John Luther Adams —Pulitzer Prize–winning composer, environmentalist, and creator of a catalog where music and nature merge into a single expressive palette—comes the Portuguese premiere of Become River , part of his Become trilogy, alongside its sister works Become Ocean and Become Desert . It is an evocative score that grows from a simple descending melodic line, like a spring, branching into a network of musical tributes that form a vast sonic river.
