Valparaíso, Chile—Music to Preserve the Planet

November 11, 2016 @ 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm

John Luther Adams has spent years creating environmental awareness through his music and warning about the impact of man on Earth. The great technological development, rapid population growth, and increased consumption of natural resources, are signs that for the first time in history, man is largely responsible for the changes in the planet’s geology. This scenario has been dubbed by many scientists as the new era of the Anthropocene. The musician is questioned how artistic creation and music are affected by this new global situation Can music engage with current changes and simultaneously discard them? Can music resonate with today’s world, creating at the same time, a world for itself?

Activity with simultaneous translation. It is requested to arrive 15 minutes early.
